Raymond Chan Wine Reviews 18.5/20.
Deep, ruby-black with a slight hint of garnet, lighter edged. The nose is intensely full, filled with aromas of eucalyptus, pencil shavings, melded with cassis, blackberries, violets and savoury, earthy hints. Full-bodied, bright fruit aromas of cassis, blackberries, violets interweave a hint of leather, unfolding eucalyptus, pencil shavings and earth. Fine-grained tannin extraction offers a chewy palate; fruit is bright and attractive with complexity, lively acidity added roundness. Match this with grilled ribeye and kangaroo loin over the next 5 years. 14.5% alc. 18.5/20 pts August 2021.

Deep blackish purple with a crimson hue. Ripe aromas of blackcurrant and black Cherie fruit with mocha oak tones underneath intermix with cedeary tobacco dominate the nose over some spice and black olive. Full bodied, richly flavoured Cabernet Sauvignon with vibrant ripe blackcurrant, cherry and plum flavours complexed by spicy mocha oak notes. Smooth, fine chalky tannins add to the layered finish.

Great Australian wine begins in the vineyard and since 1971 it’s the dedication to the science and technology advances of modern Australian viticulture that has seen the Hickinbotham family vineyards become renowned quality, cost efficient grape growers for some of the industry’s leading winemakers.

The natural evolution for the family was to establish their own wine labels. In 2004, the 3 Rings label was established to showcase Shiraz and the Barossa Valley.
