Tank-fermented cool. A smaller portion, fermented spontaneously in used barriques. Noble bush-vine material from Blewitt Springs. Brisk, dry and thirst-slaking. Solid rosé. Strawberry, mint, piercing redcurrant riffs, musk, jasmine and a smattering of herb pulsing long.

The ‘Entrada’ range of wines are inspired by winemaker Alan Varney’s time in the small Portuguese town of Entradas, in Alentejo, where he lived a vintage in 2017.

“Early picked bush vine Grenache from the Blewitt Springs sub-region of McLaren Vale provides red berry aromatics, a touch of dried herb, and a textural mid-palate leading to a vibrant, long, and dry finish.” - Alan Varney, Winemaker

100% Grenache

261 dozen made

13% Alc/Vol.

THE VINEYARD

Sourced from 60+ year old bush vine planted on the sandy slopes of Blewitt Springs, McLaren Vale.

WINEMAKING

Crushed and pressed in to stainless steel tank for cold settling prior to a long slow cold ferment with a Champagne derived yeast strain. Approximately 20% wild fermented in seasoned French Barriques to build texture and mid-palate weight. Fermented bone dry. Contains minimal sulphites.

92 Points - Mike Bennie, The Wine Front

“A Blewitt Springs resourced for grenache and it’s 70 years old. Some wild ferment, the rest not, does its conversion in stainless, matures a bit in barrels.

Pretty colour. Right on in that regard. Strawberry and raspberry scents, light spice, a bit of vanilla cream too. Fleshy in the palate but dry, chalky finish and zesty acidity keeps things nice and perky. Great red berry fruitiness to taste, just on the cusp of ripe and sweeter. Very attractive.”
