Dark cherries, black raspberry, liquorice and spice. Full of flavour, but less than full-bodied, chocolate, earth and spice, succulence and depth, fine almost brick dust tannin, a bit of a ‘mineral’ feel, and very good length. Something like black forest cake flavour in the aftertaste, and other things too, of course. What a bargain. Tasted: Oct 2019; Alcohol: 14.2%;Closure: Screwcap; Drink: 2019-2028+; Rated: 94 Points; Gary Walsh; The Wine Front.

Grenache 49%, shiraz 35%, mataro 16%. An even flow of berried flavour, immaculate balance, a bit extra on the finish, the impression that everything is pure and unadorned. Depth of flavour is on the modest side of medium but texture, style and interest are all here in spades.

Named in honour of our family’s original use for the building that now houses our Cellar Door, the Butchers Block Red is a structured, fruit- driven & medium bodied wine. A crowd-pleasing style of wine that offers excellent value for money. A medium-bodied palate with red and black berries. Layers of spice, dark plum, cassis and berry fruit adorn the palate – pleasantly held together by fine tannins. Smooth & delicious.
