Bob Campbell MW 96 points - 5 stars "Taut, intense and complex chardonnay with nectarine, ripe peach, mineral/oyster shell, nutty yeast lees and subtle spicy oak flavours. Very appealing now but with a promising future. Clearly a great vintage." 15/9/2022. Cameron Douglas MS 95 points. *95 points - Outstanding "Fabulous bouquet with a range of scents from youthful, fresh, some new wood energy and spice with a core of fruit, to a sense of place with warm silty soils and whisps of salty air. Complex. On the palate a full-bodied wine with a satin touch, flavours of white nectarine and ripe grapefruit flesh, apples and a leesy mineral...

Blank Canvas Escaroth Chardonnay 2021 (BC 96)
Chard Farm Closeburn Unoaked Chardonnay 2021
wine description: Juicy nectarine and pear fruits, with apple blossom floral tones giving a nice lift to the attractive bouquet. The palate displays wonderful purity of tree fruit flavour. There is a nice flow to the structure and length, with good balance and chewy acidity. winemaker’s comments: Closeburn is our un-oaked Chardonnay. The fruit is grown throughout the Central Otago region and exhibits the regions natural elegant fruit flavours and mineral complexity. The wine is fermented in tank to retain its bright fruit. It is then left to rest on its yeast lees to gain some doughy complexity and softness. This is a refreshing...
Dog Point Chardonnay 2019 (Organic) JS 95
Located in Marlborough, New Zealand's premium wine growing region, Dog Point Vineyards produce wines that respect the natural integrity of the land from which they are made and, reflect the experience and passion of the people that make them. Intense sort of Chardonnay here, kind of like sticking your head out of a car window while driving at 110 km/h, which I’m sure is also the sort of thing that a dog would love too. Plenty of struck match, pink grapefruit, oatmeal and bran, BBQ chicken, guava and spice. And more, but that’ll do for now. Tight and tangy, but also bold and packed with flavour, biscuit oak, a mix of ripe lime and stone...
Elephant Hill Salome Chardonnay 2018 (BC 96)
Bob Campbell MW 96 points. Flagship chardonnay made only in top years from grapes grown in the coastal Te Awanga vineyard and Triangle vineyard at Bridge Pa. Quite a contrast to it stable mate, Sea Chardonnay. It is richer, weightier and even more complex with peach, grapefruit, citrus, nectarine, ginger, baguette crust and spicy oak. A very impressive wine with good cellaring potential, 29 MAY 2020 2020–2027
Greystone Chardonnay 2019 (Organic) BC 95
95/100 Bob Campbell MW "Fantastic bouquet with aromas of a complex and detailed expression. Aromas and flavours of pure white and yellow fleshed stone fruits, citrus, apple, lees and a chalky limestone minerality. On the palate the wine has a detailed texture from acidity and fruit spice, careful use of barrel and plenty of lees autolysis. Fresh cashew nut and oyster shell, apple blossoms and white peach flavours. Lengthy finish leaves me wanting the whole bottle to my self." Drink 2021 - 2025+.
Greystone Erin's Reserve Chardonnay 2018 (BC 96) Organic
Bob Campbell MW 96 points. ONLY 576 BOTTLES MADE. An exotic nose of baking spices, pear, peach and cashew. This single block Chardonnay naturally builds on the palate initially with ripe fruits, beautifully restrained by fine-grained oak and integrated acidity. A long flowing wine ready now, or age for up to ten years for increased complexity. Erin's Chardonnay grows on our steepest and highest slopes, in limestone soils which impact a beautiful minerality and tension to the wine. The block is 100% Mendoza clone, its natural acidity is a perfect companion for the limestone soils. The small berries and thick skins from 2018 have created a...
Greystone Erin's Reserve Chardonnay 2019 (RC 19/20) Organic
Raymond Chan Wine Reviews 2019 Vintage Tasted: Jun 2021. Bright, medium yellow, slightly lighter on the rim. The nose is softly full and elegant, well-proportioned aromas of warm-butter, salted almonds interweave stonefruit citrus, flinty minerals and delicate spices. Medium-full bodied, the palate is smooth and full, well-packed with nuances of stonefruit, preserved lemon, lemon zest intermix toasted almonds, warm spices and lemon curd. Brilliant acidity flows with great energy, carries lemon zest and fine-textured phenolic to linearity. The mouthfeel is full and textural; chalky thread harmonised the acid tension. This is an elegant,...
Greystone Erin's Reserve Chardonnay 2020
Winemaker's Notes We hand picked our steepest block of Mendoza Chardonnay before a gentle whole-bunch pressing to tank without additions. We allowed the juice to settle overnight before we racked to French oak barrels for wild fermentation and full malolactic fermentation. The extended nature of fermentation brings not only richness to the wine but also layers and subtle complexity. Barrel ageing lasted 16 months before the wine was estate bottled without fining. Only 1461 bottles made.
Neudorf Rosie's Block Moutere Chardonnay 2018 (WF 94)
Lands Mid April They make very good chardonnay over at Neudorf. Reliably good. Floral, perfumed, cashew, mango and stone fruit, spice tucked in. It delivers flavour smoothly, has gloss and glide, but keeps itself nice and tight with some bright citrus acidity and flavour, and flinty highlights. Finish is long and harmonious. It’s a great thing to drink. 94/100. Gary Walsh winefront.com.au Stylish chardonnay with peach, grapefruit, hazelnut, spicy oak and brioche flavours supported by gentle, fruity acidity. A weighty wine with a pleasingly silken texture. 17 JUN 2019 Drink 2019–2023 93 points Bob Campbell MW therealreview.com
