This is an upright and handsome white wine with lots of mineral brightness and loads of inner poise and confidence. The Cantina Kaltern 2019 Alto Adige Pinot Bianco Quintessenz sticks to a classic game plan that prizes varietal purity and intensity. Pinot Bianco offers a softly neutral bouquet with orchard fruit and pear, but it shows fine density and firmness in terms of mouthfeel. This expression offers a linear style, with hints of flint or crushed stone, and it is a little more focused or even severe in this vintage. It is laser sharp and tight now and needs a little more time to relax and flesh out. This was a release of 12,000 bottles. ML Sep 2021.
