"From a small lime-laced block on the edge of the terrace overlooking the Kawarau River. Vibrant and slightly edgy pinot noir with floral, cherry, berry and fresh herb flavours supported by tangy acidity that helps drive a lengthy finish.

winemakers comments:

The Eliza Vineyard is on the edge of a picturesque terrace situated directly above the Kawarau River in Bannockburn. This single vineyard wine is made from a small 3 tonne parcel of Pinot Noir clones 777 and 115 that is its own unique block within the Eliza Vineyard. The terrace is formed predominately on alluvial schist soils, with a band of pedogenic lime at around 1 meter below the surface. This band of soil created lime is very distinct and large clumps of small schist pebbles encased in the chalky white substance can be seen in the edge of the terrace directly below the vines. The soil gives a mineral edge to both the bouquet and the wines acid, providing a nice foil to the rich fruit and plush tannins that are hallmarks of wines from this sub- region.

wine notes:

Exuberant dark cherry, plum fruits and spice combine with a mineral toned savouriness to make a complex bouquet. The ripe fruits provide pleasant density to the palate and there is a plushness to the structure which gives way to fine mineral energy that drives the flavour to a long finish.
