95/100 Halliday's Australian Wine Companion, James Halliday
"Plush. Thick. A salubrious sheen of impeccably poised oak and sensitively extracted grape tannins meld with just enough freshness. Generosity, the calling card. The fruit and arsenal of herb- to spice-inflected flavours sing above the structural frame: black cherry, damson plum, licorice, Asian spice, hoisin and baby back ribs. Slick, long and immensely satisfying." Drink by 2036

95/100 The Real Review, Stuart Knox
"Deep and intense ruby and purple colours coat the glass. A nose of chocolate, blackberries freshly-crushed and oyster brine. With all that visual and aromatic intensity the palate was remarkably controlled. Still a big boy but has an acid-and-tannin-driven framework that it keeps its composure and flows deep into the finish 20 NOV 2020." Drink 2020 - 2040.

98 Points - Stuart McCloskey “Occasionally, you get the opportunity to sit down with a wine which provides a story – similar to a novel that you can’t put down. The bouquet is utterly thrilling and lucid – the fruit is deep, sweet and contrasts between mulberry and damson, leading to blueberry compote and then moving to red varietals. The tussle between power and finesse is a gentle one but fascinating nonetheless – incredibly skilful winemaking and viticulture. Without being too obvious, the biodynamic influence is centre stage and shows the world how amazing natural wines can be. Profoundly beautiful and a story in its own right…”

Winery Note:
Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass born from the earth...it is a dark, lustrous and powerful stone. Our Obsidian shiraz is also born of the earth and like the gemstone, when formed into a wine it is it is dense, brooding, complex, structured and powerful.
It is a wine to age, appreciate and savour.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Magenta black
Nose: Dark cherry, Satsuma plums, currants, dark chocolate, liquorice, marshmallow and creamy vanillin oak.
Palate: A multi-dimensional, powerful wine that displays a diverse spectrum of flavours. The front palate Certified Organic Australia is rich and generous, dominated by dark fruits while the mid to back palate explodes with mulberry and raspberry conserve. The entire palate is perfectly balanced from start to finish and shows great poise and elegance with soft, velvety tannins. For a young wine this vintage has remarkable presence.
