Winery tasting note:
The color is pale gold with reflections of emerald, a perfection of finesse and purity that flourishes over time, we find notes of menthol, liquorice against the backdrop of this iodized mineral very characteristic of the great Chablis wines. Drink it over the next five to ten years.

"Somewhat unusually, here the nose is actually quite similar to that of the La Forêt but with slightly better layering. Otherwise there is terrific intensity to the firm, racy and overtly mineral-driven flavors that possess excellent size, weight and mid-palate density, all wrapped in a super-saline and beautifully well-balanced finale. This is lovely stuff and worth your interest provided you have the patience to cellar it for at least a few years first." Burghound 93/100, Nov 2020

The Grenouille or "Frog" is the flagship wine of the estate. This grand cru is hand harvested from vines older than 50 years, their roots deep in soils that are a mixture of clay and limestone. The wine is matured for 18 months in oak before bottling. This is a bold and powerful wine with a backbone of minerality that assures perfect balance.

Grenouilles is the smallest of the seven official Chablis Grand Cru climats, located just above the banks of the river Serein. The southern exposure of the Grenouilles site leads to perceptibly riper flavors in its Chardonnay-based wines, which are associated with stonefruit, orange peel and honey, softer and more open in their youth than those from the other climats. They can also vary considerably with age, sometimes showing power and sometimes delicate balance.

The triangular vineyard lies in the very center of the hill that hosts all of the Chablis Grand Cru vineyards, sandwiched between the Valmur and Vaudesir Grand Cru sites.

We have worked closely with Cyril Testut for many years now. Quiet, considered and deeply passionate about his 13ha domaine, he is the proprietor of one of the real jewels of the Chablis region that sites in the top echelons of the Chablis hierarchy. His Chablis vineyards are perfectly situated - squeezed between the Grand Cru Blanchot and the 1er Cru of Montée de Tonnerre. It is arguably the finest Chablis AC vineyard in the region. The small parcel of the famous Grand Cru Grenouilles returned to the Testut family only a few years ago. Back in 1970’s the vineyards were leased, due to internal family squabbles, and were held by William Fèvre for 30 years. It is now back in the hands of one of Chablis’ finest domaines
