James Halliday Wine Companion 92 points:
Deep, saturated red-purple hue with aromas of black plum and cherry fruits, cut through with hints of blackstrap licorice, violets, blackforest cake, dark chocolate and oak spice. Sweetly fruited on the palate with deep blackberry and plum fruits tinged with warm earth, fruitcake spice and Old Jamaica chocolate. Impressive fruit density, tight sandy tannin and bright acid drive.

When small amounts of wine disappeared from their oak barrels medieval winemakers just assumed it was angels from above taking their cut. It was about the same time everyone thought the world was flat – science wasn’t a strong topic back in the middle ages!
That small amount wasn’t anything to do with thieving angels, it was evaporation from the oak barrels during the maturation process (which is why it’s known as the “Angel’s share”).
It’s a medium to full bodied McLaren Vale Shiraz with loads of rich, concentrated dark fruit flavours and a touch of spice. Good to go now but this has plenty of potential for cellaring for another 10-15 years!
