Quite a contrast to it stable mate, Sea Chardonnay. It is richer, weightier and even more complex with peach, grapefruit, citrus, nectarine, ginger, baguette crust and spicy oak. Aromas and flavours of pure white and yellow fleshed stone fruits, citrus, apple, lees and a chalky limestone minerality. On the palate the wine has a detailed texture from acidity and fruit spice, careful use of barrel and plenty of lees autolysis. Fresh cashew nut and oyster shell, apple blossoms and white peach flavours. Lengthy finish leaves me wanting the whole bottle to my self." Drink 2021 - 2025+.

Winemaker's Notes We hand picked our steepest block of Mendoza Chardonnay before a gentle whole-bunch pressing to tank without additions. We allowed the juice to settle overnight before we racked to French oak barrels for wild fermentation and full malolactic fermentation. The extended nature of fermentation brings not only richness to the wine but also layers and subtle complexity. Barrel ageing lasted 16 months before the wine was estate bottled without fining. Only 1461 bottles made.

Lands Mid April They make very good chardonnay over at Neudorf. Reliably good. Floral, perfumed, cashew, mango and stone fruit, spice tucked in. It delivers flavour smoothly, has gloss and glide, but keeps itself nice and tight with some bright citrus acidity and flavour, and flinty highlights. Finish is long and harmonious.
