Tawny styles refer to fortified wines that have been blended using red grape varietals, which in the Barossa, typically include Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvedre. Often, Tawny styles are carefully blended from a range of vintage years to achieve a consistent style and minimum age. The 21 year old Para Tawny however stands alone as a single vintage wine, whereby the most select parcels of 2000 vintage wine are drawn from barrel and bottled as a special celebratory release. 97 Points, 2022 Halliday Wine Companion – Tyson Stelzer “Grenache/shiraz/mourvèdre; matured 21 years in old oak hogsheads; fortified with brandy spirit. Stuart McCloskey 99-100 points. "Ripe black fruits tinged with orange rind flood the palate. Totally effortless, sensual, precise and without fault. An astonishing wine and one that will provide 50 years of pleasure..." James Suckling 94 points. "Aromas of blackberry and dark chocolate with toasted spices, cherry, raspberry coulis and vanilla. Like a liquid black forest cake. Rippling with intensity and concentration, the palate has very soft and satiny tannins that sit smoothly into the finish. Sultry. Drink over the next five years." #CLEAR

The Real Review – 92 points “Intense cherry-red colour. Dark cherry and charry meat aromatics. Dark berries on entry, but then it becomes a distinctly savoury wine with dry earth, exotic spice and dried blood elements all filling the palate. The tannins are firm and granular as expected for the variety, they accentuate the savoury nature whilst creating drive and length. Time and/or food will reward you here” Stuart Knox. COLOUR Deep ruby red with purple hues BOUQUET Lush red berries with primary fruits at the fore and a hint of sweet paprika PALATE Summer red berries carry through. The Real Review – 91 points “Medium-intense ruby-red hue. Cherry, violets and African spice aromatics. Medium to full-bodied. Dark cherry, anise and bay leaf spices with a dry earth undertone. Good length with a firm tannic grip that dries it well. No rush to get into this wine.” Stuart Knox. COLOUR Light, bright cherry red BOUQUET A lifted nose displaying delicate spice of clove and nutmeg with some cherry notes at the fore. PALATE Satsuma plums and sour cherry set the tone for this crunchy and vibrant wine. Firm tannins and refreshing acidity, coupled with bright fruit round out this medium-bodied beauty.

A bright crimson, this rich red has a strident step across boysenberry and cherry ripe flavours before the ferruginous growl of tannins kick in, imparting a savoury glow of dried tobacco and ironstone to Barossa's postcode of fruit sweetness, ample oak (50% new, all French, 6 months... and a bit obtuse) and extract. 91 points. Ned Goodwin Published 21 March 2022 VARIETY 100% MATARO 9TH RELEASE Encounters with unblended Australian Mataro (also known as Mourvèdre) are rare. The origins of Mataro are almost certainly Spanish where it is often called Monastrell. It is the principal black grape of the five appellations that cluster on Spain's...

Mataro was brought to Australia by James Busby in 1832 from Perpignan in the Roussillon in southern France and has shown its suitability to the Barossa Valley climate exceptionally well ever since. The broad appeal to Mataro lies in its earthy ruggedness and ability to show finesse and structure. While often used as a blending component, at Turkey Flat we feel Mataro deserves to star in its own right as a single varietal. The Real Review Ink black core with a deep purple rim. Deep and dark aromas of plum, blood and tar tell a story that resonates on the intense and weighty palate. Cola spices fill in as it builds long, caressed all the way...

Gary Walsh, The Wine Front , 94 points.. Dark cherries, black raspberry, liquorice and spice. Full of flavour, but less than full-bodied, chocolate, earth and spice, succulence and depth, fine almost brick dust tannin, a bit of a ‘mineral’ feel, and very good length. Three varieties very well suited to McLaren Vale. Bush Vine Grenache provides aromatic lift and bright red fruit characters. Shiraz lends powdery tannin, spice and mid-palate weight, while Mourvèdre rounds out the blend and contributes balance and structure. This wine is a fun and challenging puzzle to assemble each vintage and will age gracefully up to a decade after release. 45% Grenache, 30% Shiraz, 25% Mourvèdre 285 dozen made 14.0% Alc/Vol. 96 Points - Ned Goodwin MW, Halliday Wine Companion, Top 100 Wines. “45/30/25% grenache/shiraz/mourvèdre.
